One Billion Rising and Art Therapy Activism

Are you an art therapist who is an activist?  Community Art Therapy to help groups express, heal, and activate is another way art therapists can serve their communities.    Many causes are turning into large scale events involving poster making, video’s, poetry slams, creative writing posts, blogging and murals in order to create an environment to effect change.

Next week is One Billion Rising – a global movement involving dance, poetry, art and activism to encourage the world to rise up to end violence against women.  So if you are an art therapist and an activist… you can join in to create art, dance, activate your community, and help survivors heal.

About V-Day’s One Billion Rising:
ONE IN THREE WOMEN ON THE PLANET WILL BE RAPED OR BEATEN IN HER LIFETIME.

ONE BILLION WOMEN VIOLATED IS AN ATROCITY

ONE BILLION WOMEN DANCING IS A REVOLUTION

On V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, 2.14.13, we are inviting ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence.

ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country. V-Day wants the world to see our collective strength, our numbers, our solidarity across borders.

What does ONE BILLION look like? On February 14th, 2013, it will look like a REVOLUTION.

More about One Billion Rising

Part of a worldwide campaign organized by Eve Ensler (the founder of V- Day) and activists across the globe, One Billion Rising RVA is your voice (and you!) rising to end violence against women and girls.  One Billion Rising RVA is an event, a rally, a revolution, a rising, a chance to dance and celebrate. 2.14.13 is a time to come together to increase awareness, to demonstrate our collective strength, our numbers, and our solidarity across borders. It is a catalyst to a new time and a new way of being.
