September Community Meetings

The VATA Board is pleased to announce that our Community Meetings held across the state in September  were a great success! We saw the highest member turn out of any non-CEU event held over the past year, and heard loads of valuable feedback from new and old members.

We discussed what members are looking for through their membership with VATA, and we learned that professionals saw the discounted workshop prices and free CEU’s as major incentives for renewing. They were also interested in ethics workshops and easy access to our Art Therapist Resource List and job postings via our members only LinkedIn profile. New professionals were interested in ATR supervision at a discounted price, techniques and processes workshops, and networking opportunities through Art for Your Heart art-making gatherings on week nights rather than weekends.

We discussed the steady and deliberate movement towards gaining Art Therapy Licensure in Virginia and agreed that increased member involvement and communication throughout the association is necessary.  We agreed on a goal to increase community involvement and be on the lookout for charity events to sponsor or with which to volunteer. Meeting participants were informed of the upcoming open Board positions of Vice President, Treasurer, Member at Large, and Director of Social Media. We would love to have some new faces and fresh ideas on our Board! If you would like to nominate your self or a colleague please do so here.

We will take your feedback to heart and look forward to filling you on all of the exciting events and volunteer opportunities in the coming months.

We hope to see you at our next Community Meeting in December!
