TENDING the CREATIVE FIRE
Women’s Expressive Arts Group
Awaken the Muse and Become an Artist of your Life!
Within every woman there is an artist, a wild soul full of passion, wisdom and endless creativity. When we express ourselves authentically and artistically, we ignite the creative fire within, nourishing a more soulful, enlivening way of being in the world that supports growth, healing and transformation.
In this spirited women’s group, we will use painting, writing, poetry, authentic movement and contemplative practices to awaken the artist within while sparking new possibilities for shaping life as a full expression of self. Each class will include time for individual art-making and reflection, community sharing and ritual, and practical tools for cultivating contemplative and arts-based practices for tending the creative fire in everyday life. Every woman welcome; no previous experience necessary.
Two 6-week sessions available:
DAY: Thursdays, Feb. 3 – March 10, 10:30 am – 1 pm
EVENING: Tuesdays, Feb. 15 – March 22, 7 – 9:30 pm
Fee: $275 (includes art materials, $100 non-refundable deposit required to reserve your space)
CALL of the WILD SOUL
Women’s Weekend Retreat Series
“She calls us to paint, to dance, to speak, to sing the TRUTH of our lives…
She calls us to paint, to dance, to speak, to sing to SAVE our lives…”
-Sally Atkins, from “The Messenger”
In this advanced expressive arts group, we will focus on listening to the call of the wild soul, claiming our inner knowing and body wisdom, and becoming artists of our everyday lives. Each retreat afternoon will offer a luxurious time of “coming home to self” through art-making, embodied writing, contemplative practices and deep sharing within a community of women. Drawing on mythic stories of the feminine, intermodal expressive arts explorations, and ritual, we will shape a supportive environment for each woman to deepen her soul work through the arts. This group is specifically for women who are committed to cultivating intimate and soul-centric relationships with self and community, and for women who wish to deepen their practice of art-making as a path to soul-making.
Pre-Requisite: Previous experience in expressive arts groups at the Art Life Studio and a demonstrated commitment to expressive arts practice, individually and in community. Commitment to all 4 sessions. Please contact Jena directly for more information.
