VA Art Therapist presenting on using art therapy with child abuse survivors

The Virginia Treatment Center for Children is hosting a local art therapist to provide a training on the use of Art Therapy with children who have been abused.  

Carol Olson, LPC, ATR-BC has practiced art therapy with children since 1992.  She currently runs a non-profit in Fredericksburg, VA: The Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault, serving survivors of sexual violence and child abuse.  She will be presenting on using art and sand tray therapy with children who have experienced sexual violence.   The use of art therapy and sand tray therapy brings to the surface issues relevant to treatment of traumatized children and assist the therapist in providing therapy interventions and working toward focused progress with survivors.

The training will be at the Ginter Botanical Gardens on September 28th.
